My Thali 49.


My Thali 49 ... A delicious thali with Kadgi Chakko (Raw Jackfruit semi dry curry), Kadgi Chari Upkari (Raw Jackfruit Bhaji), Magge Morkolumbo (South Indian Cucumber Sasam / Curry with Curds), Ukde SheetHa (Red Boiled Rice), Karanda Nonche (Natal Plum Pickle) .... Yummilicious .... 

Once again posting a Delicious combo of dishes in My Thali for all my friends here. I will not run into any details here on any individual dishes as they are all shared in individual posts. This is just a combination pattern for you to follow if at all you are confused as to what you want to prepare if you have friends or relatives over for lunch / dinner. Today’s is a typical Amchi, GSB Konkani Saraswat traditional dishes in the Thali. 1. “Kadgi Chakko / Raw Jackfruit Sukka” …. This Konkani Saraswat dish needs no introduction ….. A semi dry medium spicy curry that can be enjoyed both with Roti / Chapati or as an accompaniment to Dalitoy and Rice ….

2. "Raw Jackfruit / Kadgi Chari Talasani" ... Chari is that edible portion of raw jackfruit (Kadgi/Phanas/Fanas/Halasina Kayi) that is in between the fibrous seed portion and the outer thick spiky skin ... An awesome Garlic Flavored side dish that goes well with Dalitoy and Rice ...

3. “Magge Morkolumbo (Sasam) / South Indian Cucumber Curry With Curds” … A delicious curry with the addition of curds or buttermilk that tastes heavenly during summer months … Magge / Southeykayi is also considered as a coolant and is supposed to reduce body heat from within … Enjoy this Amchi Delicacy this summer and remain cool cool cool …

4. “Cooking Red Boiled Ukda Rice Red Boiled Rice / Tambde Ukde Tandla sheetha / Urpel Ari / LaL Mota Chawal" ...... using Pressure Cooker …. My easy way out. Cooking red boiled rice / ukde sheetha is considered laborious and time consuming, but I use a faster method and get perfectly cooked rice using pressure cooker ….. Anybody can follow this simple method, cook and enjoy hot red ukada boiled rice with a spicy Veg / Non. Veg Curry

5. “Karanda Nonche /Karvanda/Karonda/Natal Plum Pickle (Uppinkai)” … Amshe ~ Tikshe ~ Midshe Nonche - Jevana vottuchi laika jatta … A little bit of this Tangy ~ Spicy ~ Salty Pickle served during lunch/dinner goes a long way and makes the lunch more delicious and appetizing … You can serve a little bit of this with lunch or dinner or even with Idly/dosa for bf. Above all we Konkani Saraswat’s prepare it without using oil, so it is a better option than the store bought one’s …

6. "Appus Ambo / Alphonso Mango" ... These mangoes are from Ratnagiri a place in Maharashtra State in India that is very famous for this variety of mangoes. They are a beautiful orangish yellow in colour and very sweet in taste.
