Cheeselings Bhel.

Cheeselings Bhel ...... A Jhatpat snack that can be made in a jiffy when the tummy starts growling for something Chatpata ....

Bhel Puri is something all of us are familiar with, tastes great and loved by almost everyone. It’s a snack that can be prepared in jiffy when you have the chutney ready. I always have a bottle of tamarind chutney in my fridge, so also tomato ketchup. I combine these with sambar powder and prepare the bhel whenever in hurry and tummy growls. The combination is simply outstanding, easy and yummilicious.

Here to prepare the cheeseling bhel, you will need cheeselings and farsan which are easily available in the market. Cheeselings are very small square cubed salty biscuits that are in vogue for years now. They taste great as an accompaniment with lots of drinks or cocktails, so also with juices or plain as it is while you just want to relax and watch some movie. While farsan or chooda is a mixture of deep fried besan in different shapes to which ground nuts and spices are added. We serve this with rulav etc. I am sure all of you know what it is.

Peel off the skin off one large sized onion and chop them to fine pieces. Also peel of the skin of one large sized cucumber and cut them also into small pieces. Do not add in the inner seeds if possible. Chop one tomato cut into small pieces, also remove the inner seeds. Chop a handful of coriander leaves finely. Keep all these ready aside.

Now take a large bowl, add in the chopped onions, cucumber, tomato, coriander leaves along with 1 tablespoon of tamarind chutney and 1 tablespoon of tomato ketchup. Add 1 – 2 teaspoon of sambar powder, salt to taste and 1 tablespoon of coconut oil. Mix all very well. Add salt only if you find it necessary. I have not added any salt as all the ingredients like tamarind chutney, ketchup, farsan and cheeslings have already excess salt added to them. So do be careful when you add in salt. You can check by tasting before you add on the salt.

Lastly add in 3 cups of cheeselings and 1 cup of farsan / chooda and toss all gently together. See to it that you don’t mash up the ingredients. Also serve the prepared mixture immediately lest it gets soggy. Enjoy this cheeselings bhel while you have a lovely chat with family or frds. Or while watching a movie or TV. Another time I enjoy this snack is when there is nobody at home and I do not have to cook for anyone. I just take that day off, prepare this as my lunch and enjoy it with a tall glass of chilled lemonade.
