** Hot soups are a must in my home during winter and rainy season. Hubby simply loves soups. I keep thinking of adding new varieties to soups as I love experimenting with them. Green peas are in plenty during winter season. It was quite a long time since I had prepared green peas soup. So went ahead and decided to make the same. As we had a heavy lunch … been for a function, I wanted to go a bit light on stomach at night. So just added 2 eggs to the soup and served it with Mumbai pav / bread as accompaniment. Do try out this soup when the weather is down or you have a bad cold. The pepper added to the soup releases mucus. While the garlic is good for both health and cold. Eggs produce heat in the body. So accordingly this soup is sure to be a healthy one. One really feels warm and gets a good sleep after having this steaming hot soup during cold winter. The addition of eggs are optional. Vegetarians can leave out the egg part and serve the soup as it is before adding of eggs. You can serve them with added croutons too, they taste equally good.

** Here is my simple recipe for "Green Peas Egg Soup With Garlic" ... My Style ....

** Shell, wash and drain 500 gms of fresh green peas. Put it in pressure cooker with one cup of water and pressure cook to 2-3 whistles. Let the pressure drop on it own. Remove and let cool completely. Remove and keep 1 cup of green peas aside and grind the rest of the peas in a mixer grinder to a smooth puree adding the cooked water. Remove and keep aside.

** Add 2 tblsp of butter in a thick bottomed kadai, when it melts, add in 8-10 peeled and finely chopped garlic and fry till brown in colour. Add in 1 tablespoon of coarsely crushed pepper powder and fry for a second or two. Add in the ground green peas puree, salt to taste and mix well.

** Add 1-2 cups of water to the puree and bring to a thick soup consistency. Do not make the soup too thin. So go easy on water, if you find the soup too thick, you can always add water later on. Also add in the whole cooked green peas that were kept aside and bring to a boil. Lower the heat to minimum.

** Now break 2 eggs directly into the kadai and quickly stir briskly with a fork. Do not cook too much or on high heat once the eggs are added, 3-4 minutes is more than enough for the eggs to get cooked. Remove from fire and mix well.

** "Green Peas Egg Soup with Garlic" is done and ready to be served. Serve hot with garlic bread/ bombay pav/ bread sticks or any other bread available in your vicinity. This is a tasty soup with the goodness of eggs and is a complete dinner in itself when served with bread. So go ahead and have it steaming hot and you are sure to have a good sleep through the night all warm and cuddled.
