Chilled Fresh Papaya Juice.

Chilled Fresh Papaya / Popashpala / Papita / Paw Paw Juice .......

While I personally I enjoy eating papaya fruit fresh, papaya juice is delicious and extremely healthy. Papaya, also popularly known as the “The Fruit of the Angels”, has a rich medicinal history since ancient times. The delicious fruit rich in fiber, anti-oxidants, vitamins and minerals provides incredibly high nutritional benefits. It is extremely beneficial for the health of human body.

A glass of papaya juice is a great way to get essential vitamins and minerals. It contains and digestive enzyme called papain, which is useful in curing injuries and allergies. In addition, it also contains vitamins A, B, C and K and beta-carotene. Papaya has a lot of health benefits, known to cure many diseases. It is said to add glow to the Skin, while it is extremely beneficial in constipation. It is said to protect vision and is also a diabetic friendly fruit. I will not go into any further details about the fruit as I am sure all are fully aware of the benefits of the fruits.

Huge ripe papaya is available during winter season in Mumbai. I buy this fruit with great enthusiasm and then to my dismay not able to think of ways to use them other than eat them fresh or juice them. You cannot store them for long as they become ripe fast and then decay faster. So I have to hurry and think of something always to finish off the fruit in ease.

Juice is something loved by almost everyone, simple to make and a good mid morning drink too. Juts peel off the skin of the papaya. Discard the inner seeds and the whitish core that is there along with the black seeds. Cut them into small cubes and run it in a mixer with some sugar (optional). That’s all. Addition of sugar depends upon the sweetness of the papaya, so add accordingly or you can avoid if it is sweet. You can also add some lime juice or orange juice if desired to add in tartness to the juice, but I do not do so.

Serve the juice chilled or add some crushed ice while blending the juice in a mixer and serve chilled in tall glasses. Enjoy the drink which is very good for the health. Adding of sugar is individual choice. You can also add honey instead of sugar, whichever you prefer. Just check the papaya for sweetness before you add sugar. Addition of sugar will depend upon how sweet the papaya is. About a 2 tsp for a glass of 250 ml is more than enough. So go ahead and enjoy that chilled glass of papaya juice. Cheers !!!
