Creme' Apple Rings.

Creme' Apple Rings ..........

Recipe Credit to my sisters Dr. Vijaya Bhat And Gayathri Kudva.
Two of my elder sisters gave me this recipe with slight variations. So I went ahead and mixed it the way I preferred and made my own variations.

This is a sweet dish that should be served chilled. Also do not keep this for more than 30-36 hours in the fridge as it looses its freshness. So prepare in small quantities.

Peel the skin of two large sized apples and cut them into thick rings horizontally. Now take any bottle cork or round cap and press it through center to remove the seeds within and also get a nice ring shaped hole in the center.

Put the apples in a flat microwave glass dish and water till all the apples are covered up, add in 2 inch piece of cinnamon and microwave to 3-4 minutes. Remove and strain off the water gently by tilting the dish. Do not put any sort of pressure or else the apples will break. Let cool a bit before you remove the apple rings and put it another flat steel dish. The water in which the apples are cooked are completely drained off. Also discard the cinnamon pieces.

Now put 200 ml of milk cream (I used ready made available in the stores) in a mixer add ½ cup of sugar and ½ cup of milk powder and mix well, till the sugar and milk powder are mixed in properly. Check the sugar level, if desired add some more, add a pinch of cardamom powder and mix well.

Put the apple rings in a flat steel vessel in a layers. Pour the milk cream mixture all over the apples. Sprinkle some saffron on top and keep it in the fridge to chill.

You can garnish with some finely chopped roasted cashews and dried grapes also. I however kept this simple.

Remember to serve this dish very chilled coz. That is the way it tastes best.
