Chop the sides of one medium sized raw Mango, discard the seed and keep it ready. Clean, wash and chop one cup of coriander leaves with tender stalks and keep aside. In a mixer grinder add one cup of roasted gram (Putani) and powder it to a coarse texture. Remove and keep aside.
To Grind: Put One cup of freshly grated coconut in the mixer along with the raw mango pieces, 4-5 green chillies chopped (+/- depending upon individual taste) and coriander leaves and grind to a smooth paste. Add salt to taste and the roasted gram and further grind the mixture till all ingredients are mixed well. Remove and put it in a bowl.
For Tempering: Heat a small pan with 1-2 tsp of oil, when hot add ½ tsp of urad dal, when the colour changes, add in 1 tsp of rai (Sasam) and when they splutter add 1 tsp of hing powder and 8-10 curry leaves, mix well and pour over the chutney in bowl.
You can serve this chutney with any dish of your choice, like roti, upma, idly etc.
