Nachani + Wheat Poori with Custard Apple Shrikhand.

"Nachani (Finger Millet)~Wheat Poori served with Sitaphal (Custard Apple) Shrikhand" ... I just wait for the season of Sitaphal (Custard Apple), I just love the fruit and dishes prepared from it ... Shrikhand is one dish I prepare every season and relish it with Nachani (Finger Millet) Poori ... A yummy combo of dishes goes very well as a snack or when served along with some spiced briyani dishes as accompaniment during parties / functions ...

** Nachani / Finger millet is loaded with calcium and should be added into your daily diet. Nachani is a millet which is extensively used in southern parts of India unlike other millets. I will not go into the details of the benefits as you can check them in so many health groups or website. I try including Nachani powder as much as possible into dishes, by adding them into dosa, poori atta, roti etc. Do try out this combo of nachani poori with sitaphal / custard apple shrikhand, tastes simply awesome.

** For th dough : In a bowl take 1 cup ragi flour, 1/2 cup chiroti rava, 3 cups wheat flour, salt to taste and mix it lightly. Add required amount of water and knead into a stiff dough. The dough should not be soft like the one’s we make for roti. Cover and keep it aside for 15-20 minutes. Knead well, roll out to round medium sized poories, do not make them very big.

Heat oil in a kadai gently put in each poori and deep fry in hot oil by pressing down each poori gently so that it puffs up

Remove and keep it on absorbent paper napkins for the excess oil to drain.

** Nachani / Finger Millet Poori is ready to be served. Serve them with any side dish of your choice. I served the same with Chilled Sitaphal Srikhand and it tasted awesome.
