Rava Idly (Mangalore Rava) with Sambar.


Heat 1 tblsp oil in a kadai add pinch of jeera, 1tsp rai, few curry leaves some crushed pepper. Add one cup of Mangalore rava(barik lapsi) & fry well for 2-3 mts. Remove & let cool. The add about 3 cups (approx) thick beaten curds, salt, 1tsp grated giner & pinch of cooking soda. To this add any Veg’s. of your choice. I have added 1/4 cup corn, ¼ cup fresh green peas & ¼ cup cubed carrot (all three microwaved together for 2 minutes. Add some finely chopped coriander leaves. Mix well & leave for 5mts.


Meanwhile grease idly mould with oil & pour some of this batter into eacth mould & steam for 15-20 minutes. When done leave for some time say 5-10 mts before you unmould them. Serve with sambar/chutney/kurma.
