Chickoo- Khajoor (Sapota- Dates) Milk Shake~ 1

“Chickoo- Khajoor (Sapota- Dates) Milk Shake~ 1” … a simple- healthy milk shake with the goodness of fresh fruit- chickoo and dry fruit- khajoor that is very filling and nutritious ... try it, tastes awesome ... Yummilicious ....

** Fruit juices, lemonade, coolant, milk shake, Popsicle, panak, panna, fruit juices are all regulars in my home. We love having this during morning mid break in office and it really makes one all charged up when the huge task of work load that lies ahead needs to be done. I often prepare them overnight or early in the morning and carry it to work as luckily my office and home are just a stone throwaway from each other. It makes my life that much easier by cutting down on unnecessary travel time and also helps me attend to my home issues in case of emergencies easily. Sri. Hari has always been kind to me and showered me with immense blessings.

** Do try out this nutritious chickoo milk shake when they are in season. I must mention here I have substituted addition of sugar with 60% dates syrup which is easily available in stores. Both dates and milk are highly nutritious combinations though a little bit higher on calories, nevertheless, I guess its fine when taken in limits. It is essential to see to it that growing up children are relished proper food with good sources of minerals, vitamins, fiber etc. for a healthy overall development, so include this into your diet list to be relished at least on weekends. It hardly takes any time to prepare and tastes awesome when served chilled, your family is sure to love this one, Enjoy.

** Here is my simple recipe for “Chickoo- Khajoor (Sapota- Dates) Milk Shake~ 1” ... my style, do try it and enjoy with your family ….

** Wash and peel off the skin (I retain them as, I feel they contain lots of vitamins and fiber) of 8-10 large sized ripe chickoo's/ sapota. Remove the inner white pith and discard the seeds too within. Chop them into fine pieces.

** Add cut chickoo pieces in a blender along with 8-10 tsp sugar (shakkar/ sakkara), 2 tblsp of khajoor (dates) syrup, and grind to a smooth paste. You can add some chilled milk if needed to blend and bring to a smooth texture.

** Note : Dates/ Khajoor Syrup is easily available in grocery stores, in case it is not or you do not want to use store bought, then just soak dates (remove inner seed) in just sufficient hot milk for 30 minutes and grind it along with chickoo.

** You can adjust sugar as per individual taste and depending upon chickoo sweetness. Now add 2-3 cups of chilled full fat milk/ doodh (Optional, I added skimmed milk), 4-5 ice cubes and blend all together well using pulse mode.

** Remove, pour into a vessel, check consistency and sweetness. If needed add more sugar or milk or water and mix well. You can add some more dates syrup if desired for sweetness instead of excess sugar, it's individual choice.

** You can add more Ice cubes if you want to serve it chilled during summer or keep it refrigerated for 4 hours before serving too. However, it’s end of year (December) now and the weather is quite cold so I avoided serving chilled.

** “Chickoo- Khajoor (Sapota- Dates) Milk Shake~ 1” is done and ready to be served. Tastes best served cold/ chilled (individual choice) in glasses at mid morning. Do try when chickoo is in season and enjoy with family, sure to be loved by all. This milk shake is good for growing children, so try including it as often as possible.
